As a kind of follow-up to my last advice blog, (Ketovore Advice Blog 13, responding to Susanna V’s inquiry) I wanted to share this with her and all of you…
This story is very personal to me, but I am sharing for the purpose of saving lives, if at all possible. It’s a story about the fittest, most incredible, extreme athlete I’ve ever known. Andre was the track star; a dancer; an avid snow boarder; a biker; a wakeboarder; and any other way he could manage to push his body, he was open to doing it.
Although he ate ‘healthy’ and never ceased from moving, Andre had failing kidneys; was in heart failure; and had type 2 diabetes. There were several other ailments plaguing him as well.
Before I started keto, when my body was so sick, and I was morbidly obese, I thought that surely I would die before him…because he was so healthy; so strong. But on May 8th of 2021, my fifty-nine year old husband of thirteen years passed away as I held his frail frame, that had withered to skin hanging on a skeleton, in the few short weeks he’d been in intensive care.
If he was here, he would want me to tell you: Sugar (and anything that turns to sugar) isn’t good for anyone. Don’t allow others to have charge over your health just because they have a few letters after their name. Do your own research, and make sure the information you are taking in wasn’t created by those with an agenda.
I will qualify all of this by saying that…sometimes it is, indeed, one’s time to leave this earth. Andre had a serious disease that was genetic. However, with the right nutrition, we were able to make Andre’s kidney function go back up, which stunned doctors, as they had never seen such a thing before. At one point, his kidney function went from 17% back up to 25% because of the keto lifestyle. Sadly, this wasn’t enough to save him. Could we have done so had we learned of keto earlier? Only God knows.
But if you believe that a genetic disease can’t be overcome, you are mistaken. I will be doing a future blog on ‘Epigenetics,’ to speak on this topic, so keep watch for it.
But the point is, it is unwise to put all your trust in that beautiful reflection you see in the mirror; if you do, you could discover a serious ailment later on, when it could be too late to do anything about it.
There are thousands of testimonies of people who have been healed of disease because of the keto lifestyle—many of whom have been thin. If the good Lord blesses you with such knowledge, why not take advantage of it, and live out whatever time you have left on this earth feeling whole instead of sick?
God bless all of you on your journey to health and wholeness. Don’t just live but thrive.
