Here are the improvements I have seen in my body since beginning my keto journey about four years ago:
1. No more fibroid tumors
2. No more PCOS
3. No more chronic inflammation
4. No more chronic dandruff
5. No more acid reflux
6. No more constipation
7. No more bloat
8. No more brain fog (clearer thinking)
9. No more PMS
10. No more anxiety (be careful, this one can still get you if stress runs rampant in your life!)
11. No more sluggishness
12. No more horrible cravings
13. No more moon face
14. No more adult acne
15. No more chronic cough
16. No more dark spots under my eyes
17. No more asthma (with the exception of a severe allergic reaction I had to a beauty product)
18. No more swelling in my feet and ankles (I can see a bone on the side of my ankle that I hadn’t seen for decades!)
19. Much-improved bladder control (far less trips to the bathroom during the night)
20. Great libido
21. More energy
22. More stamina
23. More agility (reflexes & range of motion)
24. Better mood (no longer want to smack people…just kidding. I didn’t even know I was impatient, annoyed, and snappish until I wasn’t anymore)
25. Improved blood pressure
26. Blood sugar under control
27. Improved digestion (gut health is finally where it should be; good gut flora!)
28. Less bowel movements because of less waste
29. Extreme weight loss (seventy-five lbs or more)
30. Menstrual cycle returned to normal (3-8 days/mo)
31. Healthier hair
32. More youthful complexion
33. Flatter tummy
34. Stronger nails
35. Longer eyelashes!
36. Less joint pain
37. Faster healing wounds
38. No more painful hemorrhoids (you feel me, y’all?)
39. Better sleep
40. Less gassy
41. Less hungry/easily satiated (from eating the right foods)
42. Darkened skin faded (one of the symptoms of PCOS)
43. Strong immune system (I don’t get sick anymore- with the exception of a severe allergic reaction I had to a beauty product)
44. Improved eyesight (in my forties! Lighter RX and astigmatism nearly gone!)
45. More youthful appearance
That’s right—I no longer struggle with fibroids. They shrink, y’all! And many if not all of the PCOS symptoms have ceased altogether. Praises to Jesus! Fibroids, just like many diseases, feed on sugar, and food that turns to sugar. So what happens when we stop feeding our diseases sugar? They die.
I think it’s important to note, also, that during the times when I wasn’t eating clean, (when I allowed myself some ‘splurge’ meals for holidays and other special occasions) I could feel the difference in my body. My stomach would bloat again, my feet and ankles would swell up again, I had break-outs again, my nails would crack again, I’d feel sluggish again, or I gained back a few pounds! (boo!)
Equally important to note is that at the beginning of this new regimen, it didn’t take weeks or months to see or feel a difference; the difference was immediate. Within just a day or two of beginning the new regimen, I already began to feel lighter, and the bloating was already gone. After three or four days I already had more energy, and any swelling in my feet and ankles was completely gone. I saw more and more differences as time went on. So health is within your reach if you want it—and without drugs or surgery, or some crazy exercise plan.
I tried SO many things to get healthy and lose weight before I found out about Keto and Carnivore—I tried to go vegetarian, then vegan, then gluten-free; I tried diet pills and started getting heart palpitations; I did ridiculous 4 am workouts; I paid a ludicrous amount of money for the blood type diet package… I even did P90X and nearly lost my breakfast on several occasions! That one was frustrating, because the regimen was so challenging for me, and even though I did it religiously, I had next to ZERO results.
Throughout this entire Ketovore journey, there has been little to no exercise. I learned that once one’s body gets to a certain point, that it can actually be detrimental to begin an exercise program, and that it’s far more important to get weight under control through good nutrition. That being said, I believe exercise is highly beneficial in many areas of health—just not so much for the weight-loss aspect of things, (there are even health experts who have done their own research who agree with this).
If I’m talking to YOU right now—all the weight you’re carrying really is not your fault—not like you think anyway. You are not just lazy, or a glutton. You are simply guilty of ignorance, just like I was. You are guilty of believing lies. The difference now is that you don’t have to do that anymore.
For those of you who don’t yet have the capacity for even light exercise due to some of the symptoms—honey, I feel your pain! I know the struggle is REAL, and I’m sending you hugs through cyberspace! It may take a while before you’re able to add in exercise. That is okay—just begin with your diet, and add in the exercise later. The weight-loss part of it must be done with diet anyway. (Any work-out gurus reading this, don’t hate, please).
After all the info I’ve provided, I’ll say this: Do not even bother with any of it if you don’t plan on making a significant lifestyle change. This is not a quick diet plan—this is for the rest of your life. The reason? Because none of the bad stuff you are consuming is EVER going to be good for your body, and if you keep choosing the bad stuff, your body will ALWAYS end up rejecting it.
Think about it: with all of the improvements in the list above also comes more confidence, the ability to do more, the opportunity to live longer, live happier, and help others do the same. Think of all the opportunities you have been missing out on because of the ailments and/or disease you’ve been suffering with for however long.
You CAN learn to like this way of living…truly; it won’t be as difficult when you realize how much better you can feel. One day you can look back and wonder why you didn’t make the choice sooner. And why shouldn’t you do this when you can still eat all kinds of yummy things?
I eat bacon cheeseburgers, ice cream, sweet & creamy coffee, steak, cheesecake, bacon-wrapped onion rings, parmesan-crusted salmon, and y’all…I put butter on almost everything, okayyy?? I do miss bread sometimes, but I don’t suffer over it. Why don’t I suffer anymore? Because I am no longer addicted to it.
The moral of the story: DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. I know that every piece of information one finds on the internet is not sound, but use some discernment; do a little digging to find the truth. Please don’t even take my word for it. Everyone must take responsibility for their own bodies. God bless you on your journey to health and wholeness. Don’t just live, but thrive.
P.S. Let go of the bread; it’s not worth sacrificing your health over it.
