Dear Spring,
I always thought that eating fat was bad for you, but now I am hearing that the keto and carnivore diets call for eating lots of fat. But isn’t fat bad for you?
-Tony G. from Arkansas
Dear Tony…
We have all been told our whole lives that fat is bad for you. The truth is that there are bad fats and good fats; good fats are actually very good for you. Despite what you’ve been told, butter, for instance, is very good for you, while margarine is very bad. Other healthy fats are those found in beef, salmon, avocado, canned tuna, sardines, lamb, and other sources. Other bad fats you should avoid are canola, safflower, sunflower, soybean, and cottonseed oils.
I go into greater depth in my blog, ‘Eating Fat Does Not Make You Fat.’ God bless you on your journey to health and wholeness. Don’t just live, but thrive.
