Dear Spring,
I have a couple of friends who are vegans, and they said that the keto diet isn’t safe, because our bodies require carbohydrates for energy, and fiber for proper digestion. They’re telling me that eating only protein and fat will harm organs and cause high cholesterol. What are your thoughts on this?
-Kenneth R. from Wyoming
Dear Kenneth…
Indeed, I have heard similar arguments to the one your vegan friends are making. I can tell you that through my own research, my own experimentation, and hearing the testimonies of many people who have done keto, (and some who have tried vegan) that the keto lifestyle is not only safe, but highly beneficial to our bodies.
I have learned that what we have been told about carbohydrates, fiber, fat, protein, high cholesterol, and many other variables, (such as the food pyramid) has been false. I’ve also learned not to trust all information—even if I’ve been told something since birth; even if it’s coming from someone in a lab coat; even if I heard it on mainstream media; and even if it’s what most people believe.
My own personal improvements, in particular, are a testament to the legitimacy and effectiveness of the keto lifestyle. A few years ago, after trying countless methods of losing weight and getting healthy—without success—I was praying for God to just come and get me.
I tried excessive work out regimens like P90X, I tried diet pills, I tried the Blood Type Diet, and yes, I tried vegan too. Instead of God answering my prayer to come and get me, He gave me knowledge. And after quitting sugar, grains, and bad oils, I not only lost more than seventy-five pounds, but my adult acne went away; my fibroids shrunk; my PCOS symptoms dissipated; my feet ankles are no longer swollen; and I am no longer diabetic. That’s just a few of the improvements I’ve seen. For the full list, read ‘My Improvements After Switching to Ketovore.’
I am forty-eight years old, and I’m on ZERO medications. I achieved these results WITHOUT exercise. Not to say that exercise is not very good for you. Now that my body is in a state where I can benefit from it, I intend to begin an exercise regimen very soon.
My point is, I can only share with you what I have learned; you must find the truth for yourself, because just my word will not convince you. I would encourage you to take what I have said and dig deeper. This community is growing by the day; it is made up of people just like me who got tired of being sick, tired of being lied to, and who may have even lost loved ones to disease. Tens of thousands of people just like me are getting healed of disease. Please read the testimonies; they are powerful.
God bless you on your journey to healthy wholeness. Don’t just live, but thrive.
