I am guilty of this—believing that now that I am a ketovore, I will not suffer from ailments anymore for the rest of my life. Unfortunately it’s not so. But hey, at least it gives us a good idea of the ‘normal’ ailments we would have suffered from had we not been consuming the poison we were taught to consume.
The good news is that the vast majority of our sicknesses are likely to be ailments we can do something about. Although we’ve been told that cures for certain diseases do not exist, once again, we have been lied to. We do not necessarily have to live with Type 2 Diabetes, nor heart disease, nor PCOS, nor many other diseases.
Here’s a powerful testimony for you: My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Doctors told him he had six months to live (why do they always say six months?) and advised him to immediately begin chemo and radiation. He declined. I was so relieved, as I had already learned the truth about cancer.
My dad simply changed his diet; in short, he removed most sugar, grains, and bad oils from his regimen, and added some supplements.
That was nearly seven years ago. Today, my dad is not only still alive, but he is thriving at seventy-five years old! People have called and texted sporadically over the years to ask about him, because they’re shocked he’s still alive. Aren’t we supposed to die when doctors say we’re going to die?
No! Doctors are not God. They are taught to prescribe medicine to treat symptoms; they receive something like two weeks of nutritional training in med school. It’s not that they’re trying to harm you; they are simply doing what they were trained to do. They weren’t trained to cure.
But God provided ways to cure ourselves with the foods we eat. This does not mean we won’t ever have health issues. In fact, as many of us have learned, sometimes it is, indeed, time to go. My late husband died at the age of 59, and he was the fittest, and most extreme athlete I knew, (I will share the story in a future blog sometime) but no matter how good he was eating, it was his time to go home to the Lord.
However, sometimes it’s not time to go; sometimes there is something you can do to prolong your life. Since starting keto and carnivore, my body and overall health has probably improved somewhere between 85% to 90%. That’s pretty dang good, y’all! Raise your hand if you wouldn’t scoff at having a 90% improvement in your health.
And unlike many of the younger folks discovering keto and carnivore, some of my improvements came slowly. Had I found this amazing truth in my twenties or early thirties, I believe I would have had an easier time of it. But forties is no joke y’all; and then when you add pre-menopause to the situation…let’s just say, it’s not for sissies, okay?
So if I can do this, so can you. Also, for all of you walking through the golden years—take heart. I have heard many testimonies of people in their sixties and seventies (and even a couple in their eighties) who have seen substantial improvements living the keto lifestyle, so please do not count yourselves out. God bless you on your journey to health and wholeness. Don’t just live, but thrive.
